BlackBerry has launched an 'affordable'
BB10 smartphone, the Q5, in India. The device is priced at Rs 24,990.
With its aggressive pricing, the smartphone is clearly gunning for popularity among the "connected urban youth".
The Q5 is the most affordable of the BB10 phones launched by the company so far, much cheaper than the Z10 and
the Q10 that are both priced above Rs 40,000, even though aimed at the high-end user.
The smartphone will stand out for its slim design and best-in-class multi-tasking features.
Speaking at the launch event, BlackBerry India MD Sunil Lalvani clarified that the Q5 has a completely different target audience and would in no way cannibalise the market of the high-end devices.
The Q5 will be available in the stores from July 17 and will be packaged with
EMI offers to woo the youth brigade.
