For years, BlackBerry users were stuck with BlackBerry specific plans that used to vary according to the services subscribed. But the company has ushered in a major change in policy with the launch of the
BlackBerry Z10 as customers of the new flagship phone will not have to subscribe to a BlackBerry specific data plan anymore for emails, browsing or BBM. A regular Internet plan will work on the new smartphone. Confirming this, sources in BlackBerry said all existing data plans offered by carriers will also work on the Z10.
Meanwhile, in a release Idea Cellular announced new 3G plans for Z10 customers. Aircel is also offering usage plans for both prepaid and postpaid subscribers. Aircel's prepaid subscribers can go for 1GB data, 250 minutes Aircel to Aircel / month and 250 SMS Aircel to Aircel / month for 3 months at a recharge of Rs 153.
The BlackBerry Z10 has been launched in India on Monday for Rs 43,490. The device will be available in 2,000 stores in 50 cities in next four days. Customers who pre-booked the device can expect delivery by Tuesday.
"Without a doubt the BlackBerry Z10 is among the most important and much awaited BlackBerry launches in the history of the Indian smartphone industry, and we are thrilled to launch the new BlackBerry
Z10 smartphone with our carrier and retail partners across India. With BlackBerry 10, we have re-designed, re-engineered and re-invented BlackBerry to create a new and unique mobile computing experience, and we are uniquely positioned to change the way in which our customers view mobile technology. With BlackBerry 10, every feature, every gesture, and every detail is designed to keep you moving," said Sunil Dutt, Managing Director for India at BlackBerry.
