The Rawal-Kumar produced movie, is a comedy drama directed by Umesh Shukla. The film features Mithun Chakraborty and Paresh Rawal in lead roles, with Akshay Kumar doing a cameo. The film is an adaptation of a highly acclaimed Gujrati play 'Kanji Virrudh Kanji'.
Though the movie's light-hearted comedy and Rawal's and Kumar's promotion of the film on various TV shows made some news before the release, it failed to
set the cash registers ringing on Friday. The movie made between Rs 3.75-4 crore on the first day.
It opened best in Gujarat where collections can be termed average, compared to other cities where collections were low. The film collected around Rs 75-80 lakh in Delhi/UP on the first day, while collections in Mumbai hit about Rs 1.5 crore.
Over the weekend, the film did its best business in Gujarat while places like Nizam and West Bengal were poor.
The India-Pakistan T20 Super Eight match on Sunday may have affected the film, even though the film managed to show 25 per cent growth on Sunday.
The film's makers will be looking to pin hopes on a national holiday on October 2 (Tuesday) to help the business.
