The Comptroller and Auditor General
(CAG) report over coal block allocation continues to affect the proceedings of Parliament as both Houses were disrupted for the eighth day on Thursday.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) continued with its demand for Prime Minister
Manmohan Singh's resignation.
Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha were adjourned for the day after protests from the Opposition continued.
In the Rajya Sabha, the BJP members were on their feet demanding the prime minister's resignation. Chairman Hamid Ansari urged members to
let the question hour proceed.
Minister of State in the Prime Minister's office V. Narayanasamy said he was ready to answer but the BJP members were unrelenting, forcing the house to be adjourned.
In the Lok Sabha, BJP members raised slogans, also forcing Speaker Meira Kumar to adjourn the house till noon. The BJP has been forcing adjournment of the house since last week over its demand for the prime minister's resignation.
It has also sought cancellation of coal block allotments on
the basis of CAG's report and inquiry by a special investigative team into the allocations.
The continuing stalemate has seen the BJP and Congress going hammer and tongs at each other over the past few days.
