Chennai Express breaks opening weekend record in US, Canada

According to Boxofficeindia.com, 'Chennai Express' became the first Hindi movie to cross the $2 million mark in its opening weekend business in the territory.

Chennai Express, the Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone masala entertainer, is merrily breaking records left, right and centre.

After crossing the Rs 100-crore mark at the box office in just four days (including the special previews on Thursday, a day before release), the movie has now beaten 'My Name is Khan' with best ever opening figures in the US and Canada.

According to Boxofficeindia.com, 'Chennai Express' has become the first Hindi movie to cross the $2 million mark in its opening weekend business in the territory.

The top five openers which the movie, directed by Rohit Shetty, left behind are all Shah Rukh Khan starrers.

A tale of a north Indian man, who falls in love with the daughter of a don down south, 'Chennai Express' was heavily promoted by its cast and director across all quarters.

The action comedy entertainer was made at a budget of Rs 70 crore.
