Former Telecom Minister Dayanidhi Maran on Wednesday approached the Supreme Court seeking to restrain the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) from filing a chargesheet against him in the 2G spectrum allocation scam allegedly involving Aircel-Maxis deal.
Senior advocate Amrendra Saran and advocate Somesh Jha, appearing for Maran, mentioned the case for an urgent hearing before a bench headed by Chief Justice RM Lodha, which asked them to raise the issue before the concerned bench dealing with the 2G case.
Maran alleged in his plea that CBI was proposing to file the chargesheet out of a political vendetta as the probe in the case was still not complete.
The former telecom minister submitted that the agency is yet to receive the information it sought from Malaysian authorities regarding the deal.
The matter will be mentioned again before Justice HL Dattu who heads the bench dealing with the 2G case.
