Toyota to launch Etios Liva today, price between Rs 4 lakh and Rs 6 lakh

Toyota to launch Etios Liva today, price between Rs 4 lakh and Rs 6 lakh

The car will be the Japanese car maker's foray into the highly popular premium hatchback segment. Liva was earlier to be launched in April, but in the wake of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, it was moved to June. The car is estimated to be priced between Rs 4 lakh and Rs 6 lakh.

Etios Liva, Toyota's new small car, will hit the Indian roads on Monday (June 27), with the launch scheduled in New Delhi. It is estimated to be priced between Rs 4 lakh and Rs 6 lakh.

The Japanese auto major had earlier deferred the launch of Etios Liva in April. However, with the overwhelming response it got for its sedan Etios, Toyota brought forward the launch date to June, to reduce the long waiting period for the car.

However, according to reports, the brochure of Toyota's new hatchback for India got leaked on Sunday. While there is not much being said about the looks of the car, it is still expected to rake in money for the Japanese car maker since it offers 'the' no-nonsense package with Toyota brand on the bonnet.

Etios Liva is essentially a hatchback version of the sedan (Etios) from the company and will be seen with a smaller 1.2-litre petrol engine and later with a 1.4-litre diesel engine.

The car will be Toyota's foray into the highly popular premium hatchback segment. The company said the car is stylishly designed for today's youth and will be competitively priced, offering functionality and value for money.

According to the reports, the Etios Liva will be available in four variants - J, G, V and VX, and just like it's sedan sibling (Etios), it will come with a cooled 13 liter glovebox that will be common to all the variants.

Liva produces 80 Bhp power and 104 Nm torque output. The high point doing the rounds is the ARAI certified 18.31 KMPL fuel economy, which is expected to really move things for Toyota at the hustings - given the rising petrol prices and the Etios Liva Diesel entering the market only by the end of the year.

The concept vehicles of the Etios and Etios Liva were first unveiled at the Auto Expo last year in Delhi, creating a buzz, and later traveled across the country with the 'Toyota Q-World' - reaching out to more than 1 lakh prospective customers.
