First few hours with Samsung Galaxy Note 800

Samsung's Note 800 looks good and is comfortable to hold. But the plastic body for a device that costs Rs 39,990 is a big let-down.

In yet another attempt to compete against Apple's iPad, Samsung has added a stylus to its new 10.1 inch tablet and named it the Galaxy Note 800.

The Note 800 looks good and is comfortable to hold. But the plastic body for a device that costs Rs 39,990 is a big let-down.

Yet again we have a proprietary charging jack at the bottom with the power key and volume controls along with the microSD card and SIM card slot placed at the top.

The rich colour on the Full HD screen is ideal for watching movies and gaming.

However, the highlight of the Note 800 is the stylus that can be use to scribble and sketch on the tablet. Pressing the button on the stylus and double tapping it on the screen launches the S Note app that can be used for jotting down notes or editing photos. This button acts as a left click mouse and introduces some more features to the tablet.

To learn whether the Galaxy Note 800 can compete against the iPad, read the full review in the upcoming edition of Gadgets & Gizmos.
