Fujifilm Finepix F660EXR: A bit too costly

A bit too costly, needs finetuning

It is very refreshing to hold a compact camera that has been designed to work. The Fujifilm Finepix F660EXR is one such. There many new design elements here-a control dial that is tilted towards the thumb, a rubber grip in front coupled with one from the thumb and a pop-up flash that is hard to spot. Plus, the body is slightly heavier than normal and strangely feels better to hold than the ultra slim card-type models.

This camera has a 16MP EXR CMOS sensor with a 15x optical zoom. We found the pictures quite good and noise free with the optical zoom , but as we switched to the digital zoom, which goes all the way up to 51x, things started getting blurry. However, this camera has Fujifilm's new EXR mode where the camera reduces noise even at high ISO levels. This mode is good, but we did encounter some noise in low light. One of the good things about this camera is the video mode which is a one-step process here. You just have to click the video mode to switch as well as record, instead of two steps in other cameras. The Full HD video recording is also good and the focus quick. You can zoom real fast while recording, though there was trouble in focusing at the far end.

Verdict: A bit too costly, needs finetuning
