Riding on the success of the E6, the E7 boasts a neat design and uncompromising hardware. This phablet packs in a 5.5-inch bright, full HD display that is a delight to watch videos on. The back has a large camera sensor. The unibody design leaves no space for the back panel to be opened and so, the SIM card slot too is placed on the side panel. There is no memory card slot. Gionee E7 runs on Android v4.2 with a heavily tweaked user interface. All apps are placed on the home screen, which makes it difficult to use. I often ended up searching for apps. I replaced it with the Nova launcher that made the interface neat and simple to use. Quad-core and Octa-core processors seem to be getting standard with the new smartphones but it doesn't always mean that the device will be fast. For the E7, Gionee has opted for the Qualcomm processor and loaded it with a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 chipset coupled with 2GB of RAM, which offered a snappy performance. Multitasking between heavy graphic games was quick. I loaded a lot of media content on this phablet and it didn't show any signs of slowing down. It didn't even heat up the way other smartphones do. Of the 16GB onboard storage, only close to 10 GB is accessible. The phablet also features a 16MP camera, which is a decent performer. The images looked good on the phone's display and were impressive when transferred on the PC. But I did notice some noise when indoors. The phone did a decent job in low light as well. There is also an 8MP front-facing camera for capturing good selfies. The Gionee E7 can last for close to a day with average use.
