Google unveils first 'fully functional' self-driving car

Earlier in 2014, Google had said that since the vehicle was built for utility, its top speed would be around 40 km (or 25 miles) per hour.

Google on Tuesday announced that the prototype of its self-driving car is complete and is ready for a road test. This car is the result of Google's plans, which it revealed in May, to build its own car without features such as steering wheels.

Even though technical aspects of the futuristic vehicle have not been relieved, the car is eagerly awaited by all.

The car team of Google said in a post, "We're going to be spending the holidays zipping around our test track, and we hope to see you on the streets of Northern California in the new year."

A Google statement said, "We've been working on different prototypes-of-prototypes, each designed to test different systems of a self-driving car-for example, the typical car parts like steering and braking, as well as the self-driving parts like the computer and sensors. We've now put all those systems together in this fully functional vehicle, our first complete prototype for fully autonomous driving."

Google has also unveiled images of the drive-less car, which shows a rounded, small compact vehicle. Earlier in 2014, Google had also said that since the vehicle was built for utility, its top speed would be around 40 km (or 25 miles) per hour.
