Govt effects major bureaucratic reshuffle at Centre

According to news agency PTI, Sanjay Kothari, secretary in the department of administrative reforms and public grievances, has been appointed as secretary in department of personnel and training ( DoPT), according to official orders.

In a major bureaucratic reshuffle after Narendra Modi took charge at the Centre, senior IAS officers Rakesh Garg and Jugal Kishore Mohapatra have been appointed as secretaries in department of telecommunications and department of fertilizers respectively. Besides, Enforcement Directorate ( ED) director Rajan S. Katoch has been appointed secretary in the department of heavy industry.

According to news agency PTI, Sanjay Kothari, secretary in the department of administrative reforms and public grievances, has been appointed as secretary in department of personnel and training ( DoPT), according to official orders. Garg, a 1980- batch IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, has been appointed in place of M. F. Farooqui, who has superannuated. Garg serves in his UP cadre. The appointment of Mohapatara, a 1979- batch IAS officer of the Odisha cadre, comes in place of Shaktikanta Das. Mohapatra is working in his cadre state. Das, a 1980- batch IAS officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre, was earlier appointed as revenue secretary.

Katoch will hold the additional charge of secretary in the department of heavy industry after retirement of incumbent Sutanu Behuria on July 31. A 1979- batch IAS officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, Katoch will look after the duties of the post of ED director for a period of six months or till the appointment of a regular incumbent.

Sanjay Kothari, a 1978- batch IAS officer of Haryana cadre, will take over as DoPT secretary after retirement of incumbent Syamal Kumar Sarkar on July 31. Kothari is also secretary in the department of pensions and pensioners welfare.

N. Ravi Shanker, a 1980- batch IAS officer of the Uttarakhand cadre, has been appointed as secretary in the department of administrative reforms and public grievances and department of pensions and pensioners welfare.

Shanker works as administrator in Universal Science Obligation Fund under department of telecommunications.

Sanjay Kumar Panda, a 1980- batch IAS officer of the Manipur Tripura cadre, has been appointed as secretary in the ministry of textiles. Panda will take over from Zohra Chatterji, who superannuates on July 31.

Senior IAS officer Hara Krushna Das has been appointed as secretary, Inter State Council Secretariat, under the ministry of home affairs. Das, a 1980- batch IAS officer, serves in his cadre state Gujarat. He has been appointed in place of Tabom Bam.

The government has also appointed Shankar Agarwal as secretary in the ministry of urban development. V. S. Oberoi, a 1979- batch IAS officer of the Assam Meghalaya cadre, has been appointed as secretary in the ministry of women and child development, the order said.
