Hero MotoCorp premium bike sales fall 30 per cent in 2011

Two-wheeler major Hero MotoCorp faces the heat of rising competition with its sales figure for premium bikes dropping 30 per cent in last 11 months.

Two-wheeler major Hero MotoCorp is facing the heat of rising competition with its sales figure for premium bikes dropping 30 per cent in last 11 months. Hero MotoCorp, which was formed after split between Hero and Honda Motor Corporation in December 2010, has been witnessing a decrease in the sales of its premium bikes.

In the segment of bikes with engine power between 125 cc and 250 cc, Hero MotoCorp sold 34,116 units in January compared to just 23,860 units in November.

The fall in sales figure comes at a time when its competitors are registering double digit sales. Bajaj Auto registered a positive sales figure from 1.01 lakh units in January to 1.34 lakh units while Honda too have sold over 59,267 units in November 2011.

Considered as the fastest growing segments in India, Hero MotoCorp sales have dipped in the 125cc and 250cc segments too.
