
India's No. 4 car manufacturer by volume, Honda Cars India Ltd., today said it has registered 14 per cent growth in the number of units shipped to dealers in April 2015.
In a statement issued to the media, Honda said it had shipped 12,636 units in April 2015 against 11,040 units in the corresponding month last year. In comparison, the company had registered 30 per cent growth in the same month last year.
Its top-selling model remains the premium sedan City. The market leader in its segment - mid-size - City sold 8,203 units this April, compared to 7,044 units in April 2014.
Among other cars in its portfolio, premium hatchback Brio sold 827 units in India and 853 units were exported. Entry-level sedan Amaze sold 2,862 units this April.
These numbers reflect shipments to dealers and not retail sales.
In percentage growth terms, Honda Cars was India's top-performer among major car manufacturers last fiscal, clocking growth of more than 40 per cent, even as the industry managed a slow 3.9 per cent.
