Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL), the sole supplier of CNG for
automobiles and piped cooking gas to households in NCR, on Monday announced a minor increase in price of the fuel.
"The adjustment in price would result in marginal increase of Rs 0.20 per kg in the consumer price of CNG in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad," IGL said.
The new consumer price of Rs 30 per kg in Delhi and Rs 33.60 per kg in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad would be effective from Monday midnight.
Explaining the reason for revision in the price of CNG, IGL Managing Director Rajesh Vedvyas said: "This minor adjustment in CNG price has been necessitated due to increase in operational expenses primarily because of recent increase in minimum wages announced by government".
He said that this increase would have negligible impact on the per km running cost of vehicles and despite the aforesaid price increase, CNG would still offer over 66 per cent saving towards the running cost when compared to petrol driven vehicles at the current level of prices.
When compared to diesel driven vehicles, the economics in favour of CNG at revised price would be over 27 per cent.
