Smartphones are getting affordable and you can get a decent Android smartphone for Rs 3,000. Intex has adopted a new platform, the Firefox OS, and has launched a Rs 2,000 smartphone.

The Intex Cloud FX doesn't have the best of the hardware. In terms of build, it feels much inferior in comparison to the recently launched Jive smartphone. The phone has a 3.5-inch touch display, which isn't very bright. The touch response isn't very good and I had to tap multiple times as it would not register the touch.

Powered by a 1GHz processor, the phone is a minor upgrade from a feature phone as you can only install apps but it won't support multiple apps running in the background. The phone is aimed at providing Internet experience in a low-cost device. While it can be connected to a WiFi network, browsing is very slow.

The phone often froze while launching pre-installed games. I downloaded two apps and the speed slowed down drastically. Downloading apps was cumbersome. The 2MP camera isn't impressive either. Indoors, the images were full of noise. The phone has a removable back panel that hides two SIM slots and a memory card slot that supports only a 4GB card. Internal memory is too low at 60MB, but the 1250 mAh battery does last long.

Bag it or junk it: Good for calling but can't be used for connecting to the Internet.
