expectations of a possible deal between Jet Airways and United Arab Emirates'
Etihad Airways for stake sale pulled up the airline shares.
At close of trade today, shares of Jet Airways were up 4.70 per cent at Rs 606.85 on the Bombay Stock Exchange. In intra-day, the stock surged 6.74 per cent to Rs 618.70.
On the National Stock Exchange, the scrip settled at Rs 607.60, up 4.79 per cent from its previous close.
The stock has rallied over 65 per cent since November last year till date on stake sale speculation. Market experts said the uptick in the counter was largely on the back of stake sale report regarding the airlines.
In terms of volume, 13.82 lakh shares of the company changed hands on BSE on Thursday, while more than 55 lakh shares were traded on NSE.
Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex closed at 19,764.78, up 50.54 points.
