A rising tide often lifts some boats. The year 2015 saw the market barometer peaking to its all time high of 29681.8 on January 29. After the high, the market saw corrections in March, April and May when the Sensex traded in the range of 27,000-28,000 points. This southward journey continued till the first half of June, however, the second half is currently witnessing some momentum.

Interestingly, out of 2,630 companies that traded over 70 per cent of the total trading days, 107 companies touched their all-time high prices in June. Only January, when around 151 companies touched their all time high, saw a better performance. On June 22 alone, 29 companies touched their all-time high, the highest for June (till June 22, 2015). 


Overall, around 22 per cent companies touched their all time high year-to date (till June 22, 2015), the highest over a 15-year period. The was followed by 2008, which saw Sensex touching new highs of 20,000 levels in January and taking the score to 324 companies touching all time high prices in the same month. However, the market saw its sharpest decline in 2008 in over a decade after its peak in January. The market mood was similarly captured in stocks reaching an all-time high. The year 2015 has already seen 584 stocks reach an all-time high, which is higher than the last 14 years.
