Vijay Mallya-promoted
Kingfisher Airlines (KFA) on Thursday lifted the 25 day-old lockout after
an agreement was reached between the striking employees and management ahead of upcoming Formula One Grand Prix this weekend in which KFA chairman Mallya is likely to participate.
Striking airline employees had earlier threatened to protest during the event. The
deadlock was resolved with the management agreeing to pay four months salary dues of the employees by December-end.
While the March salary would be paid within 24 hours of resuming duty. Soon after the agreement Vijay Mallya said in a tweet: "All Kingfisher team members back at work and fully supportive. I sincerely thank all of them for their faith and continuing commitment."
KFA's Engineers' representative Subhash Chandra Mishra said: "we are joining duty from today. We have accepted the proposal for a staggered payment of four months salary dues by December."
