Kingfisher Airlines owner
Vijay Mallya has assured its staff that they would get their salary by April 10.
"I am pleased to advise you that the formalities of un-freezing our bank accounts was completed following our payment of Rs 44 crore to the Income Tax and Rs 20 crore to the
Service Tax authorities before March 31," Mallya said in a letter to
Kingfisher staff .
He said that junior staff will be paid before Easter i.e. on April 4 and all pilots and engineers will be paid on April 9 and April 10.
Meanwhile, the airline on Monday cancelled three flights from Delhi and one from Chennai.
The pilots of Kingfisher Airlines had on Sunday set a deadline for Mallya to respond to their March 29 letter on delayed salaries. The pilots had also threatened to sit on strike if Mallya does not meet them on Monday.
The pilots and engineers of the private airline have allegedly not received their salaries for the last four months.
The airlines had on March 27
suspended operations to several cities as per a new holding plan and asked the staff to stay home till the time it manages fresh funding.
Kingfisher has a debt of Rs.7,057.08 crore. Its net loss widened to Rs.444.27 crore for the quarter ended on December 31, 2011, from Rs.253.69 crore in the October-December quarter in the last fiscal.
