A letter written by
Kingfisher Airlines (KFA) chief executive officer (CEO) Sanjay Aggarwal to its employees
offering staggered payment of three months salary has
sparked a fresh controversy.
Aggarwal's claim that most of the employees had agreed to the offer made by the company and would join work by October 26 was dismissed by the striking employees.
Subhash Chandra Mishra, who is spearheading the agitation in New Delhi said, "When employees from Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai have rejected the management's offer of staggered payment schedule, how can it claim that most of them have given their consent to join work?"
"As a matter of fact, about 90 per cent of the employees have rejected the offer. We adhere to our demand for payment of four months' salary by October 26," he added. Some employees accused the management of trying to break the unity among them in a bid to resume flight operations to escape cancellation of license by the DGCA. The management on its part appears to have softened its stand and says it is ready to pay the salary for the lock-out period in October as well.
Mishra further stated that, "Mallya would not like to see any disruption by the agitating employees during the Indian Grand Prix (Formula 1) event at Greater Noida from October 27 and this is the reason why they are making such offers".
In response to the KFA's mail to all employees offering staggered payment of three months' salary dues, the Airline's Delhibased engineering staff has shot off a letter, asking the management to pay the salary from March 2012 to June 2012 at one go on or before 6 pm on Oct 26.
