LG 55LM8600 review
The 55-inch LG Cinema 3D Smart TV is as close as you can get to bringing
home the cinema, unless of course you decide to get a 72-inch giant.
But big doesn't not mean complicated, as the complete installation took
us under 10 minutes.

DESIGN
The first thing that you will notice, or miss, in any of the new LG TVs is the bezel, which is now just a 1 mm strip. This means the screen is edge-toedge, just as in a theatre. Despite being a 55-inch TV, this unit has a maximum thickness of under an inch. The multiple port options are tucked away behind the left of the screen, while the controls are on the right. Under the screen there is an LED LG logo which comes to life when you power on the TV.
INTERFACE
One of the best things about the TV is the interface, which is tile based and not text heavy. In fact, the home screen has tiles of the apps and other LG content, while under it is a slide-through tab of the main controls and frequently used features. Shifting though sources and other functions is easy, thanks to the remote. The controls are mostly intuitive and every time you press OK you get the controls that pertain to the page you are on.
3D
Where LG scores over the others is with 3D images that do not lose clarity at any point. You will have to juggle around a bit trying to figure out which 3D reproduction methods works best for the content. If you have Blu-ray quality 3D content, then you will realise what this TV is all about. You will have a hard time getting out of the way of the characters. The sad part is that in India we have a severe shortage of such content. In case you don't have 3D movies, all you have to do is upscale your HD videos from 2D to 3D-there is a host of controls that lets you get the best out of this function. The results are good, especially with depth. However, don't expect to duck arrows coming at you. And, yes, the sound is also 3D. And all this with passive glasses, which won't cost you much, neither burden your nose bridge.
SMART
This is also a smart TV with tonnes of apps and online content to play around with. Bored with the usual soaps? Go to the YouTube app and there are many channels there to interest you. Here you see that almost all the content is high quality without any pixellation despite the large screen size and that is the real meaning of "smart".
VERDICT
We doubt if 3D on TV will ever get better that this. If you can spend the moolah to get the theatre experience at home, then there is no doubt that this is the best option.
