Even as Maruti Suzuki India continues its
struggle with labour unrest at its
Manesar plant, which erupted in the form of a violent clash between the union workers and the management on July 18, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said future investments to the state will not be hampered.
Senior Maruti executive Awanish Kumar Dev was killed and
nearly 100 people were injured after the workers went on a rampage. The plant has shut down operations after the incident.
"One untoward incident cannot have so many implications. The incident won't have any impact on the investment-friendly atmosphere and
future of industries in the state. I can assure that," Hooda said.
Meanwhile, the Maruti Suzuki management organised a candlelight march in Gurgaon on Sunday to pay tribute to Dev.
Nearly 300 company officials - including senior executives S.Y. Siddqi, Ratan Aggarwal, Captain Deepak Anand, Captain Naresh, Sanjay Narang, K.K. Sharma, C.S. Raju, Prasad Verma and Ashok Kumar - along with others assembled in the Leisure Valley Park at 7 pm, offered prayers and held a candlelight march.
They also prayed for justice for all the victims.
Ten Maruti Suzuki union leaders were on August 9 sent to
police custody for seven days by a court in Gurgaon for their alleged role in the violence.
The
accused were arrested on August 8, taking the number of people held in the case to 114.
