Micromax launches Cyanogen-powered smartphone Yureka

Running on CyanogenMod, the Yureka is priced at Rs 8,999 and will be available only through the online retail channel. The Yureka features a 5.5-inch HD 720p display and has pixel density of 267ppi.

Domestic handset maker Micromax on Thursday announced the launch of its new smartphone brand, Yu, in India. Under an exclusive partnership with Cyanogen Inc., the first smartphone under the Yu brand is called the Yureka.

Running on CyanogenMod, the Yureka is priced at Rs 8,999 and will be available only through the online retail channel. The Yureka features a 5.5-inch HD 720p display and has pixel density of 267ppi.

The phone has a Gorilla Glass 3 display. The phone is powered by a 64bit processor (1.5GHz Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor). It has Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB of RAM. The phone runs on Cyanogen OS 11 based on Android 4.4. It features a 13MP rear camera with Sony Xmor sensor and a 5MP front-facing camera.

The phone comes with 16GB internal storage and supports an expandable memory card slot. It has a ,2500 mAh battery and connectivity options support dual SIM, LTE, WiFi, GPS, and Bluetooth. Yureka will be exclusively available on Amazon India and will go on sale in the second week of January.

The registrations for this smartphone will start Friday. Micromax claims that rooting this smartphone won't void the warranty of this smartphone. Also, as Yureka will be available online, Micromax is providing door-step service and replacement for the device.
