Nissan India is planning to join the biggies and
increase prices across all its vehicles from January.
The company sells just three locally assembled models - the Micra hatchback, the Sunny sedan and the Evalia multipurpose vehicle.
"The price increase is being contemplated to offset the rising input costs and currency fluctuation," the Japanese auto major said in a statement, without disclosing the quantum of increase.
Other companies like
Maruti Suzuki,
Mahindra & Mahindra, Toyota and
General Motors have already announced their plans to raise prices to the tune of 1 to 3 per cent from January, even though most of them are facing sales degrowth.
Premium car maker
Mercedes Benz also said it will hike prices effective from January.
German luxury car maker BMW will increase prices by 10 per cent on some of its products from January. Audi India, too, has announced a price hike by up to 5 per cent.
Despite festive sales, the overall car sales
fell over 8 per cent in November, according to data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) recently.
