Even as the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear go on sale on Wednesday, Nokia India is preparing to unveil its flagship Lumia 1020 on Thursday. Although the company has not confirmed what its event in New Delhi is about, the invite says "zoom into details that reveal more than your eyes can see, get closer than ever before". That seems like a clear indication that the Lumia 1020 with is its 41MP camera with PureView technology and Carl Zeiss optics is headed here. Nokia is expected to price this Windows Phone 8 device close to Rs 40,000 and start selling it in October.

As reported earlier, LG is also launching its recently announced G2 on September 30. This is for the first time that a flagship smartphone from the company is coming to India so quickly. The LG G2 is the first phone to place physical keys like the volume and power buttons on the rear where the fingers normally rest. LG says this is will make the handheld experience a little less awkward on the 5.2-inch phone. This top of line Android smartphone is already up for pre-order with online retailer sites for Rs 40,499, much lower than Rs 49,900 price point of the Galaxy Note 3.

Gionee, the new Chinese mobile player, has scheduled the launch of its much talked about Gionee E6 on October 3. The E6 features a 5-inch display with 1080p resolution and will be powered by a 1.5 Ghz quad-core processor with 2GB RAM along with 13MP rear camera and 5MP front facing camera.

The next on the cards is the HTC One Mini, which could also come in early next week. The Mini will have a 4.3-inch display in a premium metal body, BlinkFeed that fetches updates on the homescreen and a dual-core processor.

The new iPhones, meanwhile, are also likely to start selling here in October. The phones have clocked record numbers in the first wave, selling 9 million units in just three days. While some Indian websites have started taking pre-bookings, such practices have been gimmicks at the best in the past.
