Budget smartphones are selling like hot cakes. Nokia has also updated its line-up of phones that cost less than Rs 10,000 with a better and refreshing device. The Lumia 630 doesn't look revolutionary different from its predecessor but has got a slightly better look and feel. At 9.2mm, it isn't thick to hold and comes with polycarbonate back shell wrapped around a 4.5-inch display. This is a dual-SIM smartphone, and the two micro-SIM slots are hidden beneath the back cover. For this functionality, Nokia has added two distinct phone and messaging apps.

The icons have a slight different colour that makes it confusing to use initially. However, the usage does make handling two-SIM communication easy.

The Corning Gorilla Glass 3 display comes with 480x 854 pixel resolution. It isn't the best display around and it doesn't support automatic brightness either. While the touch response is good, the sunlight legibility is just average.

The Lumia 630 is the first handset to ship in with Windows Phone 8.1 in India. The operating system brings in the much needed Action Center, where all notifications come under one hood. There are four customizable toggles, too. There is a Battery Saver app that allows you to check the apps that are power hogging.

Data Sense allows users to set a data usage limit while WiFi Sense automatically connects to password-protected WiFi hotspots used in the past. Storage Sense comes handy to clear caches and manage apps. The handset is powered by a 1.2Ghz quad core processor and 512MB of RAM. The RAM is on the lower side that does affect the performance of this smartphone.

The Lumia 630 offers a 5 MP camera with no LED flash. While it does come with a camera app other than the default Nokia Camera app, the overall camera hardware is just about average. The images captured during daytime were good. But it is a task to get decent images in low-light environment. The 1800 mAh battery lasts more than a day on a single charge.

Bag it or Junk it:
A good dual-SIM phone
