NOKIA LUMIA 720
Rating: 3.5/5
Price: Rs 18,094
Specs: : 4.3 inch display; 6.7 MP camera; Windows Phone 8; 1GHz dual core processor; 512MB RAM; 8GB internal storage, up 64GB expandable; 128 grams; 2000 mAh battery
Betting big on the Microsoft's Windows Phone platform, Nokia has been constantly refreshing its Lumia lineup with smartphones across all price brackets. Its latest, the Lumia 720 is a mid-range Windows Phone 8 smartphone with a unibody design that reminded us about the smooth, solid built of the Lumia 800. The smartphone has a straight line design with a 4.3-inch display and three touch keys at the front.
Although the display resolution is low at 800x480p resolution, Nokia's ClearBlack technology saves the device with blacks looking much better than in any other device. The back has a slight curve on the top as well as the bottom with the camera placed towards the top. Since the back can't be removed the micro-SIM slot and memory card slots have to be opened using a pin.
Running Windows Phone 8, the Nokia Lumia has got the standard tile based user interface. It has also got an improved lock screen that can pull updates from any app. Unlike power hungry Android smartphones, WP8 devices run smoothly on a lower processor. Hence, the Lumia 720's 1Ghz dual-core processor with 512 MB RAM is good enough for regular use case scenarios, excluding heavy graphic games.
The highlight of the Lumia 720 is its 6.7 MP camera with Carl Zeiss lens. The camera also has an F1.9 aperture which is the widest in smartphones. So images are impressive with detail and real-life colours. The camera has many shooting modes such as sport and night like in compact cameras. The sound output was above average. The non-removable 2000 mAh battery gave us more than a day on above average usage. The price tag makes the Lumia 720 a very affordable smartphone.
BAG IT OR JUNK IT?
A complete smartphone that is affordable.
