Nokia, the Finnish handset maker, will now make available real-time traffic updates for its smartphone users in Delhi and Mumbai.

The 'Traffic feature' - available for both Symbian and Windows Phone users - can be accessed by updating the Maps installed on the handset. The service is powered by Navteq Traffic Pro.

However, Nokia will fetch the information with the handset user's accessing location at any moment. The company refers to them as Nokia probes.

When in use, the traffic updates will be represented in colour codes - green, red and orange.

At the launch, Nokia also revealed that of the 175 million navigation devices used globally, anyone using the data helps in improving it too. Also, these users normally generate 10 billion probes per month and close to 2.4 million changes are made to the maps every day.

Nokia says 370 million people will be using traffic services by 2015.
