State-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) on Thursday paid an interim dividend of Rs 2,961 crore to the government for the current financial year.
An official statement said ONGC Chairman and Managing Sudhir Vasudeva presented a cheque of Rs 2,961 crore to Oil Minister M Veerappa Moily.
"This represents dividend payment at 100 per cent of the equity Capital held by the government in ONGC," it said.
Vasudeva also briefed the minister about various activities of the company. Moily is understood to have noted the issues facing the Navratna PSU and emphasised the need for quick decision making to expedite resolution of the issues.
Shares of ONGC closed the day 1.95 per cent higher on the Bombay Stock Exchange at Rs 279.75.
