
The country's largest lender, State Bank of India (SBI) isplanning to hire over 5,000 employees in 2011-12. While a total of 4,987officers would be recruited in its associate banks, as many as 206 officerswould be appointed to work in SBI itself.
The bank would be hiring people for the post of probationary officers for itsassociate banks, while those for the parent bank would be hired in the positionof specialist officers in various divisions like law, economics, medical and security.The associate banks for which recruitment is being sought include State Bank ofBikaner and Jaipur, State Bank of Hyderabad,State Bank of Patiala, State Bank of Mysoreand State Bank of Travancore. SBI has already released public advertisementsfor all these positions.
Last year, SBI had said that it plans to hire a total of 27,000 employees --20,000 to 22,000 people in clerical posts and 5,500 people at the probationaryofficer level.
All PSU banks including SBI are planning to strengthen their workforce with atotal of about 45,000 personnel during 2011-12.
