Indian Railways earned Rs 1,01,223.95 crore during April 2012 to January 2013 as against Rs 84,083.74 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 20.38 per cent.
The total goods earnings have gone to Rs 70,067.36 crore during April 2012 to January 2013, registering an increase of 24.76 per cent.
The passenger earnings during this 10-month period in the current fiscal were Rs 25,924.29 crore compared to Rs23,344.42 crore during the same period last fiscal, registering an increase of 11.05 per cent.
Railways have increased the passenger fare in all classes by 21 per cent from December 22 with the aim of mopping up total Rs 6600 crore in the next fiscal 2013-14 and Rs 1200 cr in the current fiscal.
