Reliance Communications (RCom) will invest about Rs 1,500-2,000 crore in the current financial year to increase its data business.
"We will invest in the range of Rs 1,500-Rs 2,000 crore this fiscal. Our focus area would largely be to increase data revenue," RCom CEO for Consumer Business, Gurdeep Singh, told PTI.
The company on Friday reported a 46 per cent jump in its net profit at Rs 228 crore mainly due to increased revenue from wireless Internet business and rise in post paid customers.
RCom has already raised $300 million early this month for capital expenditure.
Contribution of non-voice segment, largely dominated by data, rose to 25.2 per cent of the revenue during Q4-FY15, up from 23.5 per cent during the same period a year ago.
RCom's average data usage per subscriber is the highest in the industry at 893 MB, Singh said.
According to company data, RCom's total data or Internet customer base has increased by 26.2 per cent year-on-year to 33.7 million, including 17.4 million 3G customers.
