Reliance Power has named N. Venugopala Rao as the chief executive officer of Sasan Power, a fully-owned subsidiary, managing the 3,960-MW ultra mega power project in Madhya Pradesh.
Rao was earlier the chief financial officer.
A meeting of the company's board on Friday also decided to appoint Ashutosh Agarwala, who has been functioning as president-finance, as chief financial officer with immediate effect.
In August-end, the company announced the commissioning of the fifth, 660-MW unit of the 3,960-MW project, taking the power generation capacity to 3,300 MW. The sixth and final unit, it added, was in advanced stages of commissioning.
Significantly, the Supreme Court on Wednesday allowed Reliance Power to retain the coal blocks awarded for the Sasan project.
