Renault stormed into the India's SUV market by unveiling
Duster sport-utility vehicle at an aggressive price point. The petrol version of Renault Duster comes with a starting price of Rs 7.1 lakh while the diesel one starts from Rs 7.99 lakh (both prices ex-showroom New Delhi).
Renault Duster is the automaker's fourth launch in Indian market in just over a year after Fluence, Koleos and Pulse.
Renault has pitched Duster head-on with SUV offerings from M&M, Tata Motors and other automakers.
Despite falling sales in the automobile sector, domestic manufacturers are upbeat about the growth of the
sport utility vehicles segment, which has reported a double-digit rise with fresh demand emerging from both urban and rural markets.
According to figures of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), sales of SUVs increased by 16.4 per cent in the last fiscal. The growth continued to remain bullish in the first quarter of this fiscal year with most companies posting high double-digit growth.
Renault Duster SUV comes in two variants for the petrol version while the diesel one comes in six variants.
Renault Duster's petrol versions have 1.6-liter petrol engine and a 1.5-liter engine for diesel ones.
Duster's petrol versions are priced between Rs 7.19 lakh and Rs 8.19 lakh while the diesel variants came between Rs 7.99 lakh and Rs 11.29 lakh.
