Samsung launches two new smartphones in dual-sim category

Samsung says the launch of 'Galaxy S Duos' and 'Galaxy Y Duos Lite' would spur the growth of dual-sim handset market in India

Expanding its dual-sim smartphone portfolio in India, Samsung Electronics Co Ltd on Wednesday launched of two new models.

The launch of 'Galaxy S Duos' and 'Galaxy Y Duos Lite' would spur the growth of dual-sim handset market in India, Asim Warsi, vice-president, Samsung Mobile said at a press conference.

With the new launch, Samsung now offers 5 dual-sim smartphones and a total of 13 smartphone models priced between Rs 6,990 and Rs 42,500, he said, adding that the company expected the smartphone segment to contribute more than 25 per cent to its total mobile volumes this year.

Warsi said that in partnership with Reliance, Samsung was offering a deal of 1GB 3G data or unlimited 2G data free per month for six months to all Samsung Galaxy Y Duos Lite buyers.

The company also aimed at a 60 per cent market share in smartphones in India, he added.
