Samsung has finally taken the wraps off the much awaited
flagship smartphone , the
Galaxy S3 during an event in London.
As speculated earlier, the S3 has a 4.8 inch Super AMOLED display, 1.4GHz quad core processor, 1GB RAM, Android IceCream Sandwich, 8MP camera, 1.9MP front facing camera for video calling, 2100 mAh battery and NFC. In terms of memory, the S3 will be available in 16GB/32GB/64GB variants with expandable card slot. The other highlights include zero shutter lag, voice control system - S Voice for weather updates, web searches, camera capture, etc. and 'more intelligent' lock system that keeps the screen awake by sensing the user's eyes.
In terms of design, the S3 doesn't look revolutionary. It has rounded edges and the home key along with menu and back, just below the display. The design of the S3 received a mixed response for its plastic body from the global media present at the launch.
The Galaxy S3 will be available in Europe from May end followed by Asia, Middle-East and Africa. The 4G variant of the smartphone will go on sale in US and South Korea this summer.
