Satyam scam: Raju surrenders, sent to jail

Satyam scam: Raju surrenders, sent to jail

The Supreme Court had on October 26 cancelled the bails for all the accused in the Rs 14,000-crore fraud, including that of Satyam founder B Ramalinga Raju.

Satyam Computer Services (now Mahindra Satyam) founder B Ramalinga Raju and his brother Rama Raju surrendered on Wednesday before a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Hyderabad, along with four other accused in the multi-crore fraud.

All the accused in the Rs 14,000-crore fraud were taken into judicial custody and sent to jail.

Raju and his associates appeared before the designated court and surrendered on Wednesday afternoon. The Supreme Court had recently cancelled the bails of all and asked them to surrender.

On Tuesday, the apex court had turned down Raju's plea seeking more time for surrender. The Supreme Court, however, allowed them to celebrate Diwali with their families before surrendering.
