Sony India launched its latest wearable accessory - the Smart Watch 2 - on Wednesday. This latest contender in the smart watch arena, first announced at the Mobile Asia Expo in Shanghai in June, will be available in India from October.
It is the world's first NFC (or near field communication) enabled watch, which is broadly similar to being Bluetooth enabled.
The device, with an aluminium chassis and stainless steel band, has a 1.6 inch (220 x 176 pixel) display and weighs 122.50 gms, It is water resistant. It can also be a second screen for Android smartphones, handling calls, messages, email, Facebook or Twitter.
By installing a simple camera app on SmartWatch 2, it can be used to control the camera on your mobile handset.
Only a day earlier, rival Samsung had launched
its smart watch Galaxy Gear, compatible with select Galaxy smartphones,
for Rs 22,900. In comparison, the Smart Watch 2 is much cheaper at Rs 14,990. It will be compatible with most Android smartphones.
