SpiceJet offers 50% discount on domestic tickets for 3 days

Domestic low-cost carrier SpiceJet has announced a discount of 50 per cent on all domestic bookings from 21 January to 23 January, the firm's website reveals. The offer is valid only when the consumers book at least 30 days prior to their travel.

The offer which started on Tuesday ends at 23:59 hours on Thursday.  It is valid only when the consumers book at least 30 days prior to their travel.

The-Super Sale-accroding to the the firm is valid till 15 April 2014.

SpiceJet will offer 50% discount on base fare and fuel surcharge on the ticket, the carrier's website says.

Discounted offers include Delhi-Goa one-way flights for Rs 3,355, compared with Rs 5,848 earlier and Delhi-Mumbai for Rs 2,830 against Rs 4,798 earlier. A one-way Bengaluru-Delhi flight would cost Rs 3,444 compared with Rs 5,936 earlier.

Airlines in India are facing cash crunch with rising jet fuel prices and operational costs. On January 9, SpiceJet board of directors announced to issue over 6.4 crore convertible warrants, worth about Rs 125 crore at the current price, to its promoters to raise funds.

The Kalanithi Maran-promoted carrier announced a loss of Rs 559 crore for the second quarter of financial year 2013-14, as compared to a loss of Rs 164 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. It is the biggest loss the airline has ever suffered in any quarter and indeed three times its loss of Rs 191 crore in the entire financial year 2012-13.

The SpiceJet stock closed 1.72 per cent higher at Rs 17.75.
