The benchmark index for Indian equities on Friday closed marginally higher, after paring its early losses. Trading was volatile amid negative cues from other Asian bourses.
The
30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 15,789.08 points, closed at 15867.73, up nearly 11 points.
The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange also ended lacklustre at 4754.10 points, up just 4 points.
Broader markets also moved up from the red with the BSE 500 index closing flat.
Among the Sensex stocks, RIL, Hindalco and HDFC Bank rose more than 2 per cent each while Hero MotoCorp, JP Infra and Bharti Airtel were among the major loses, falling between 3 per cent and 5 per cent.
