Tatas seek Mamata's help to invest in West Bengal

The Tatas have reporetdly written a letter to Mamata Banerjee seeking her cooperation to re-invest in the state.

Almost two-and-a-half years after the Tatas were forced to leave Singur lock stock and barrel , the Tatas have sought Mamata Banerjee's cooperation to re-invest in the state.

Banerjee and her Trinamool Congress had played a proactive role in driving out Tata Motors from Singur in October 2008, protesting against "forceful land acquisition" for their Nano project. But with the Trinamool's landslide victory in the state polls, the Tatas are all out to appease Banerjee.

According to reports, a letter signed by Tata Sons director R.K Krishna Kumar reached the Trinamool office in Kolkata. The letter reportedly said the Tatas do not have any objection in making fresh investment in Bengal.

The Trinamool leaderships kept mum on the issue. Some leaders said they didn't know about the letter to Banerjee. Senior Trinamool legislator Jyotipriyo Mallick said he had no clue about such a letter while party MP and Union minister Mukul Roy refused to respond to repeated calls made on his cellphone.
