Tata Motors upgrading old Nanos with new starter motor

In a goodwill gesture for its patrons, Tata Motors on Tuesday announced that it was upgrading its old Tata Nanos-those produced up to mid-September 2011-with a new starter motor to enhance the vehicles' performance.

In a goodwill gesture for its patrons, Tata Motors on Tuesday announced that it was upgrading its old Tata Nanos - those produced up to mid-September 2011 - with a new starter motor to enhance the vehicles' performance.

This move, the automobile firm stated in a statement, was in line with the company's practice to upgrade its vehicles from time to time.

Earlier, in November 2010, Tata Motors had upgraded the exhaust and electrical systems of the Tata Nanos.

The statement further said that the new starter motors had already been installed in nearly 50,000 old Nanos and that about 65,000 owners were yet to get the same installed. The company further said that they were in constant touch with the remaining owners to expedite the installation of the new starter motors in their vehicles.

The installation process of the new starter motor began in October this year.

The Nano 2012 already comes with the new starter motor along with a host of new features including new colours, interiors, best-in-class AC, and greater fuel efficiency of 25.4kmpl-making it one of the most fuel efficient petrol cars-at the same price as before.

Improving the vehicle's engine, Tata has upgraded the Nano's 624cc engine to deliver an impressive 38PS of power (35PS earlier) and 51 Nm of torque (earlier 48Nm).

Improving the vehicle further, Tata Motors has also revised the Nano's suspension set-up as well as the steering mechanism, thus providing for a smoother ride and better handling.

The interiors are completely new with an enhanced premium look and feel - luxurious beige in the Nano LX, rich black in the Nano CX and stunning medium graphite in the Standard version. The car is now available in 10 colours, eight of which are new. All the variants come with an unmatched warranty of 4 years or 60,000 kms, whichever is earlier.

Tata Motors further said that it will keep adding new features to the Nano in keeping with the customers' satisfaction and desires.
