TCS up over 2 per cent on bourses on hopes of strong Q4 numbers

The scrip of the IT major climbed 2.22 per cent in value at Rs 1,245.90 a piece on BSE on expectations of robust fourth quarter earnings.

TCS , the country's largest software exporter, on Thursday rose by over two per cent in the early trade on bourses on expectations of robust fourth quarter earnings, to be announced later in the day.

The scrip of the IT major climbed 2.22 per cent in value at Rs 1,245.90 a piece on Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

Similarly, on the National Stock Exchange, the company stock gained 2.22 per cent at Rs 1,245.80 a piece.

TCS, which is almost twice the size of the IT stalwart Infosys, also topped in total trade volume at bourses, with over 10 lakh shares traded in the morning.

Experts attributed the rise to markets expecting better quarterly earnings from TCS, in keeping with better-than- -expected performance by HCL Technologies, even as Infosys results failed to enthuse the investors.

HCL had on Wednesday posted 33 per cent rise in its net profit at Rs 468.2 crore for the January-March quarter.

Meanwhile, the BSE benchmark index Sensex was trading 132.57 points up at 19,603.55 leel at 1007 hrs.
