The Toshiba Portege Z830, launched in India on Wednesday, is undoubtedly the
lightest Ultrabook available in the country, if not the world. But it is also among the most expensive devices in the new ultra-thin laptop segment initiated by Intel.
Priced at
Rs 96,290 with a three-year onsite warranty, the Z830 costs Rs 8,000 more than the Asus Zenbook, but comes loaded with accessories and extra features.
While Intel had set a benchmark price $1,000, the only Ultrabook that is near the price range is the Acer Aspire S3 at Rs 48,000. The Samsung Series 5 is also
priced around the same range, but does not stick to many of the ultrabook standards.
The Portege Z830 is also feature packed and comes with the second generation Intel Core processors, up to 6 GB DDR3 RAM, 128 GB SSD and 13.3 inch HD display.
It ticks most of the boxes as far as Intel's ultrabook standard goes, even going a step ahead with a spill resistant keyboard and magnesium casing with honeycomb reinforcement to withstand fall and weights.
But the real stand out feature of this Ultrabook is its 1.12 kg weight and 15.9mm thickness, both top of class.
