What is it? The MacBook Air is the world’s thinnest laptop. It is 0.4 centimetres at its thinnest point, 1.9 centimetres at its thickest (or the width of your index finger), and weighs a mere 3 pounds. Part of Apple’s MacBook family, it was launched by Apple CEO Steve Jobs at the MacWorld Conference & Expo on January 15, 2008.

Is it a powerful laptop, too? The MacBook Air is a good laptop but thanks to its thin form factor, can’t pack in the muscle. Think of this as the Kate Moss of laptops, good looking but not much meat. It is the first Apple notebook since the PowerBook 2400c without a built-in removable media drive. The CPU is an Intel Core 2 Duo chip that saw its size cut 60 per cent. But it does have a 13.3-inch widescreen LED display, full-size keyboard and large, multi-touch trackpad.

How long did it take to develop? It took one year to develop. And it costs? Rs 96,100, which is rather expensive. Like a supermodel.
