Xiaomi to sell 15,000 units of Mi 3 smartphone on Flipkart today

Chinese handset maker Xiaomi's Mi 3 smartphone has been in the news for all the good reasons. The Mi 3 packs in high-end specifications and is retailing at Rs 13,999. On Tuesday, the phone will be available for purchase on online retailer Flipkart at 2 pm.

This will be the third flash sale of the device. Xiaomi, through social media, has revealed that there will be 15,000 units on Flipkart for sale on Tuesday. More than 1,00,000 people have registered for the Mi 3.

Launched in India on July 15, the Mi 3 first went on sale on July 22 and was sold out in 40 minutes. The second sale was on July 29. Xiaomi claimed to have sold out the device the second time in just five seconds.

However, during the second flash sale, the process of purchasing the smartphone was different. Flipkart allowed registered users to add the phone to their cart at the start of the sale. They were allowed to check out the smartphone at a later time, before midnight.

Hugo Barra, Vice President, Xiaomi Global, said in a press statement, "We are completely overwhelmed by the demand for Mi 3 by our fans here in India and are working diligently with our manufacturing partners as well as our local partners and the user community here in India to bring more devices and deliver the best possible product experience with Mi 3 and other models to come."
