General Motors on Monday, 25 July, 2011, launched the diesel version of its small car Beat in India, priced between Rs 4.29 lakh and Rs 5.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Till now, the company was selling the Beat in petrol and LPG variants.

The company launched the diesel car with a 1.0-litre engine, which has been developed specifically for India by GM's Technical Centre in Bangalore, in collaboration with GM Powertrain, Europe.
The all-new 1.0 XSDE SMARTECH Common Rail Diesel engine from Chevrolet has been made exclusively for India. It offers a power output of 58.5 PS and a torque of 150 Nm.
There are nine colour options available for the Chevrolet Beat diesel car.
