JioMart now available on Google Play, Apple App Store: All you need to know

The e-commerce platform was launched as a website but now buyers can download the app from their Android and iOS devices to buy groceries.

Reliance's JioMart is now available for download on Google Play Store and Apple App Store. The e-commerce platform was launched as a website but now buyers can download the app from their Android and iOS devices to buy groceries and other important stuff. The JioMart delivery services have been made available to more than 200 locations in various cities across India.

The JioMart was launched by Reliance Industries to take on Amazon and Flipkart, both the e-retail companies currently rule the market in India. The JioMart mobile app comes a week after the Reliance Annual General Meeting 2020. Reliance Chief Mukesh Ambani talked about the upcoming features and his vision about the JioMart and how it plans to survive in the market.

JioMart app will make it simpler for users to shop. Considering the number of smartphone users in India, users find it way more convenient to download an app rather than visit a website from their mobile to order a product. All its rivals including Amazon, Flipkart, and others have separate mobile apps.

Ambani announced the collaboration with WhatsApp and how that would help people in buying products from the JioMart. "JioMart and WhatsApp will be working closely to create growth opportunities for millions of Indian small merchants and enable customers seamlessly transact with kirana shops," he said. He also stated that JioMart will work closely with WhatsApp to create new opportunities for the local Kirana stores and the consumers.

Isha Ambani, who was also present at the event, said that JioMart will empower and engage Kirana Stores as it would allow the stores to stay connected with their customers on the JioMart platform, facilitated by a multifunctional POS. "First, a powerful omnichannel tech-platform to unite customers, kiranas, and producers and second, a widespread physical network of Reliance Retail that takes benefits of new commerce to every corner," she said.

During the AGM, it was revealed that the first-time JioMart customers will get a complimentary COVID kit consisting of masks and hand sanitizers to curb the spread of the deadly coronavirus. Ambani also revealed that the Reliance-owned e-commerce platform delivers 250,000 orders a day and it also has plans to venture into electronics, fashion, and other categories in the near future.

For the unversed, JioMart offers all grocery and essential items at 5 percent below MRP. The products at JioMart are way cheaper than Amazon, Flipkart, and even Zomato and Swiggy, who are currently delivering groceries across the country.
