Asus to launch tablet-cum-netbook Transformer Prime on March 1

Asus along with Nvdia is all set to launch the first quad core tablet upgraded to Android's Ice-Cream Sandwich in India on March 1.

Asus along with Nvdia is all set to launch the first quad core tablet upgraded to Android's Ice-Cream Sandwich in India on March 1. The Transformer Prime is a tablet which comes with a keyboard dock that transforms it into a netbook within seconds.

Specs:
10.1-inch display; Android 4.0; 1GB RAM;  64GB internal memory;  8.3 mm thin; 8 MP auto focus; Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB (with dock); Weight: 586 gm (pad), 537 gm (dock).

The 10.1 inch tablet with a 8.3-mm thickness has a microSD card slot, a 1.2MP canera at the front and a 8MP rear camera. The dock will feature a full well-spaced QWERTY keyboard along with a USB slot and a 40-pin connector port.  

Capable of handling multiple tasks and heavy graphic applications with ease, the Prime will have a quad-core processor paired with 1GB RAM.

Unlike other tablets with SIM card support, this one can only access net over Wi-Fi or data card plugged in the USB slot. The tablet will also have an inbuilt memory of 64GB.

With the dock weighing 537 gm, the combined weight comes to 1.12 kg-still lighter than most netbooks. The tablet and the dock combined together can give a battery backup of 15 hours on a single charge.

The expected launch price of the Asus Transformer Prime is Rs 49,999.
